Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit arrested a Metairie man for Medicaid fraud.

50-year-old Mauricio Cordoba, of Metairie, was arrested on August 24, 2026, and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on:

• 2 counts - La. R.S. 14:70.1 – Medicaid Fraud.

On May 22, 2025, the MFCU received a complaint in reference to suspected Medicaid fraud involving direct service worker Mauricio Cordoba, the Medicaid recipient’s father, who claimed to have provided services while the recipient was incarcerated at Jefferson Parish Correctional from March 3, 2025, until March 7, 2025.

Additionally, MFCU agents determined from August 13, 2024, until November 12, 2024, Cordoba submitted time sheets and service logs during school hours while the recipient was attending the 11th grade in the Jefferson Parish School District. The dates in question were also compared to school calendars that were provided by JPSD.

The total amount of fraud for Cordoba’s overlap while the recipient was either incarcerated or attending school totaled $6,722.75.

According to the arrest affidavit, the provider terminated Cordoba after discovering he had clocked in while the Medicaid recipient was incarcerated, and the provider subsequently self-reported the suspected fraud to MFCU.

The investigation was conducted by the Louisiana Department of Justice’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Bond information was not immediately available.

The investigation remains ongoing.
