AG Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Arrests Labadieville Woman for Medicaid Fraud Involving Nearly $144,000

Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation agents arrested a Labadieville woman for defrauding the Medicaid program of nearly $144,000.

The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) received a criminal referral from Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) regarding allegations that 30-year-old Nicole Carrier, of Sycamore Street in Labadieville, a Medicaid recipient, had underreported her income for purposes to receive Medicaid benefits.

During this investigation, LBI agents learned that in the period between May 2023 and February 2026, Carrier provided false information to LDH by concealing her marital status and true household income. As a result, Carrier defrauded the Medicaid program of nearly $144,000.

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, LBI agents arrested Carrier pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the 19th Judicial District Court on charges pertaining to Government Benefits Fraud and Injuring Public Records.

Carrier is charged with:

  • L.R.S. 14:70.9 Government Benefits Fraud - 4 counts
  • L.R.S. 14:132 First Degree Injuring Public Records - 3 counts

Carrier was booked without incident at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

“This is taxpayer money. Anyone who steals from Medicaid is stealing from Louisiana taxpayers, and we will ensure they are arrested and prosecuted," said Attorney General Liz Murrill.

Her bond information is unknown at this time.

The investigation continues.
