AG Murrill's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit arrests woman for defrauding Louisiana's Medicaid program of more than $68,000

Attorney General Liz Murrill's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit arrested a woman for defrauding the Louisiana Medicaid program of more than $68,000.

On March 31, 2026, Mylanta Denise Cephus was arrested without incident in East Baton Rouge Parish for:

  • 1 Count: La RS 14:133 – Filing or Maintaining False Public Records (Felony)
  • 3 Counts: La RS 14:70.1 – Medicaid Fraud (Felony)

Cephus is a former caretaker who was employed by Caregiver Homes of Louisiana DBA Careforth, located at 7884 Office Park Boulevard, Suite 120, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70809, to provide daily personal care services for a Medicaid recipient.

She is alleged to have fraudulently composed daily activity logs documenting the care she claimed to perform for the Medicaid recipient over the course of three years (May 1, 2023, to September 18, 2025) when in fact, she did not perform the services.

These daily activity logs were submitted to Louisiana Medicaid and Cephus was paid for Medicaid services she allegedly did not render.

The total monetary amount fraudulently billed to Louisiana Medicaid is $68,486.73.

Cephus was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Her bond information is unknown.

Our investigation continues.
