Attorney General Murrill’s LBI agents arrest New Orleans man known as "DJ Hardhead" for defrauding Sewerage & Water Board Workers Compensation program of more than $37,000

Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) arrested a New Orleans man for defrauding the Sewerage & Water Board Workers Compensation program of more than $37,000.

LBI initially received a complaint from the Risk Management Division of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans regarding allegations of Workers Compensation Fraud.

During this investigation, Agents learned that in July of 2022, 51-year-old Warren Murphy of Morrison Court in New Orleans, also known as "DJ Hardhead," reported being injured on the job and was placed in a nonwork status by a doctor. As a condition of receiving workers compensation benefits, Murphy was required to sign and submit Monthly Report of Earning forms disclosing any work activity, self-employment, or income during the reporting period.

Agents learned that during the months of August, September, and October 2022, and February and March 2023, Murphy, who was operating under the name “DJ Hardhead, performed work as a disc jockey at local venues. Murphy failed to report this work activity on the required Monthly Report of Earnings forms.

As a result of this scheme, Murphy defrauded the Workers Comp. program of more than $37,000.

LBI agents secured an arrest warrant for Murphy through the Orleans Parish Judicial District Court on charges pertaining to Workers Compensation fraud.

He was charged with:

  • L.R.S. 23:1208 - Misrepresentations Concerning Benefits over ten thousand dollars

On Thursday, March 26, Murphy, who was already incarcerated at the Orleans Parish Jail on charges pertaining to first-degree rape and intentional exposure to AIDS, was rebooked on the charges associated with this case.
