AG Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrests former school admissions director for embezzling over $87,000 in tuition payments

Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) arrested a former school admissions director for embezzling over $87,000 in tuition payments.

LBI received a criminal complaint from representatives with Crescent City Christian School, a private institution in Metairie, operated by Celebration Church, regarding allegations of embezzlement.

During this investigation, LBI agents learned that 32-year-old Maryfrancis Johnson, of Delta Street in Belle Chase, and a former employee who served as the school’s Admissions Director, had allegedly defrauded the school.

Agents learned that in the period between 2020 and 2023, Johnson had allegedly embezzled over $87,000 in tuition payments made by students’ families. Instead of depositing cash payments, Johnson kept the funds and made false entries in the school’s financial tracking system (FACTS) to reflect that payments had been received.

LBI agents secured an arrest warrant for Johnson through the Jefferson Parish Judicial District Court on charges pertaining to:

  • L.R.S. 14:67 - Theft over $25,000
  • L.R.S. 14:73.5 - Computer Fraud

On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, agents arrested Johnson and booked her at the Jefferson Parish Jail without incident.

Her bond information is unknown at this time.
