AG Murrill's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit secures guilty plea for Monroe woman for Medicaid Fraud

Attorney General Liz Murrill's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit secured a guilty plea for a Monroe woman for Medicaid Fraud.

On March 24, 2026, 48-year-old Sharri Jones, of South Wilmuth Drive in Monroe, pled guilty as charged in the19th JDC to:

  • One count of Medicaid Fraud, a violation of La. R.S. 14:70.1 

Jones’s sentence was deferred under art. 893 and she was placed on one year of active supervised probation with standard conditions as well as special conditions of completing a court effective decision making school, pay restitution in the amount of $106,572.74 (CMJ executed),pay $60 a month to probation and parole as supervision fee, and remain drug free, arrest free, and alcohol free.

Sharri Jones, while working as a counselor for Universal Rehabilitation Center in Monroe, submitted fraudulent documentation claiming that she was providing telehealth services to multiple Medicaid recipients. Agents conducted numerous interviews and obtained Jones’ phone records which confirmed Jones was documenting services that she never provided, causing a loss to the Medicaid program of $106,572.74. She was originally arrested on January 7, 2025.

This arrest and conviction resulted from an investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit with the Louisiana Department of Justice.
