AG Liz Murrill fighting to protect women and unborn children by stopping flood of mifepristone into Louisiana

Attorney General Liz Murrill's Office filed a lawsuit against the FDA to vacate a Biden-era rule that removed a longstanding in-person dispensing requirement for mifepristone, an abortion drug that--according to recent data--is being used to kill approximately 1,000 unborn Louisiana children every month. The Biden Administration's avowed purpose for that removal was to allow doctors in state like New York and California to prescribe and mail mifepristone into pro-life States where abortion is restricted or prohibited.

The lawsuit was filed in the Western District of Louisiana.

On December 19, the district court held a status conference to determine the briefing schedule for our motion to stay the Biden FDA's regulation, which authorizes the mailing of mifepristone into Louisiana to cause illegal abortions here.

"We support the Trump administration which has acknowledged the flaws in the original rule. But unfettered and unsupervised access to these pills is dangerous. So the Biden-era rule should be enjoined," said Attorney General Liz Murrill.

The district court has set a hearing on our motion for February 24 in Lafayette.
