Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a registered sex offender from New Orleans for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

42-year-old David Robert Morel Jr., of Glacier Court in New Orleans, was arrested on October 20, 2025, for violating:

• 27 Counts - 14:81.1 E(5)(a) — Child Sexual Abuse Material under the age of thirteen 

LBI Agents initially got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

This arrest was a result of a joint investigation with The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, the New Orleans Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the US Marshals.

Morel Jr. was booked into New Orleans Central Lock-up.

His bond is pending assignment. 

The investigation is ongoing.
