Shreveport man arrested by Louisiana Bureau of Investigation for Misrepresentations concerning benefit payments and other charges
Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a Shreveport man for Misrepresentations concerning benefit payments and multiple other charges.
The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) opened an investigation into 43-year-old Maurice Williams, of Kristin Drive in Shreveport, regarding allegations of workers compensation fraud as well as perjury.
Agents received information from a Caddo based Louisiana Department of Justice (LADOJ) Special Assistant Attorney General (SAAG), that former 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, Information Technology Director, Maurice Williams, committed workers compensation fraud after claiming a work-related injury at his place of employment.
The investigation showed that Williams committed perjury by supplying a forged email, purportedly from his attorney, in support of his fraudulent claim during a deposition.
Williams intentionally altered the email containing legal advice from his former attorney, falsely making it appear that Williams simply followed bad legal advice when not reporting his secondary income to his employer’s (the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Second Circuit) for workers compensation calculations.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant, on 9/04/2025, Williams surrendered himself at the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Correctional Center.
Williams is charged with:
- Count(s) 1 of 23:1208 Misrepresentations concerning benefit payments (Felony)
- Count(s) 1 of 14:72 Forgery (Felony)
- Count(s) 1 of 14:133 Filing or Maintaining False Public Records (Felony)
- Count(s) 1 of 14:123 Perjury (Felony)
