AG Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrests Crowley man for Misrepresentations concerning benefit payments in the amount of $72,932.22
Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a Lafayette man for Misrepresentations concerning benefit payments in the amount of $72,932.22.
The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) received a criminal referral of allegations of Worker’s Compensation Fraud from a law firm assisting in a claim involving 54-year-old Harold Breaux, of West 9th Street in Crowley.
LBI Investigators found that Breaux worked as a truck driver and crane operator, when in 2014, he was involved in a workplace accident. Breaux claimed that his condition prevented him from working, and he eventually told medical examiners that he could not lift anything heavier than a 44-ounce Dr. Pepper and a sixteen-pack of water.
From February 2021 to June 2023, Breaux continued to claim he was unable to work due to his condition. Video footage of Breaux doing construction work, operating lawn mowers and tractors, and climbing under houses contradicts that claim.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant, on September 3, 2025 Harold Breaux surrendered himself at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Correctional Center, where he was booked with violating LRS 23:1208, which pertains to misrepresentations concerning benefit payments amounting to $72,932.22.
Breaux's Bond was set at $25,000.00.
