Westwego man arrested by Louisiana Bureau of Investigation agents for Molestation of a Juvenile and other hands-on offenses

Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation have arrested a Westwego man on March 27, 2025 on multiple disturbing charges.

61-year-old Darrell Joseph Devenny, of Central Avenue in Westwego, was arrested for violating:

  1. LA R.S. 14:81.1 (Possession of) Pornography Involving Juveniles under Age of Thirteen; 55 COUNTS
  2. LA R.S. 14:81.1 (Production of) Pornography Involving Juveniles under Age of Thirteen; 1 COUNT
  3. LA R.S. 14:81 Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile; 1 COUNT
  4. LA R.S. 14:43.1.1 Sexual Battery (misd); 1 COUNT
  5. LA R.S. 14:81.2 Molestation of a Juvenile; 1 COUNT
  6. LA R.S. 14:73.13 Unlawful Deepfakes

Agents initially got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children which kicked off our investigation.

This arrest was a result of a joint investigation with The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Devenny was transported to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and booked accordingly.  

“These are some of the most disturbing cases our LBI agents have to deal with. I'd like to thank the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and our agents for their hard work and dedication on this case. We will not tolerate anyone harming our children in Louisiana. If you do so, we will find you and prosecute you,” said Attorney General Liz Murrill.
