Super Bowl LIX will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Unfortunately, the Super Bowl attracts con artists who prey on unsuspecting fans with fake ticket scams. Here are some tips to help ensure that fans don’t get scammed when purchasing tickets to the championship game.  

“Excitement is growing ahead of the big game in New Orleans on Sunday. But if you’re looking to be in that number - and buy tickets to the Super Bowl LIX, you’ve got to do your homework first. Sadly, many con artists will be working overtime this week to prey on innocent people looking to attend the game. Only buy tickets from reputable sources and always pay with a credit card. If you feel like you’ve been a victim, you can contact local law enforcement and my Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-351-4889,” said Attorney General Liz Murrill.

Here are tips to avoid ticket scams from Attorney General Murrill and the NFL:

- Purchase tickets only from reputable sources.

- Verify the identity of the seller.

• Ticket scammers use compromised and fake accounts to evade detection.
• For example, it may look like a friend on social media is selling tickets; however, a scammer may have hacked their account. 

- There will be no paper of PDF tickets available or accepted at the Superdome

- Fans also may find tickets available on resale on the NFL Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster, as well as on other ticket resale companies’ websites. 

• The NFL Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster is the Official Resale Marketplace of the NFL, where fans can buy and resell verified authentic Super Bowl tickets. Tickets will remain available on resale on the NFL Ticket Exchange up to 60 minutes after kickoff.
• Other ticket resale companies include companies within the NFL Ticket Network, such as SeatGeek and SI Tickets by Sports Illustrated through which fully verified resale tickets can also be purchased, and other resale companies like StubHub, etc. 

- Currently, authentic ticket packages with experiences, suite access and other hospitality offerings, are available for purchase to fans thru On Location, which can be accessed at https://onlocationexp.com/nfl/super-bowl-tickets 

- Before you make the purchase, check the URL of the website.

• Make sure it starts with “https” - the “s” indicates that it's a more secure connection.  

- Be cautious of those who are offering tickets at significantly reduced prices.

- Be skeptical of offers that are too good to be true.

- Always pay with a credit card. 

• Generally, this will give you the ability to dispute the charge if something goes wrong. Be wary of sellers who request payment methods that are difficult to trace or recover, such as cash, gift cards, and wire transfers.  

Consumers who believe they have been defrauded should immediately contact the company they used to make the payment and report the details to local law enforcement and the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at www.IC3.gov.
